Chisato Matsui (松井 知里, Matsui Chisato) is a minor character in Battle Royale.
Backstory[]
Chisato was somewhat quiet and withdrawn. She had a problem with speaking up for herself and was apparently boy crazy.
Friends and Enemies[]
Chisato got along with Yukie Utsumi, Shinji Mimura, Izumi Kanai, Haruka Tanizawa, Noriko Nakagawa, Yuko Sakaki, Satomi Noda, Yuka Nakagawa, and Fumiyo Fujiyoshi.
In the Program[]
Chisato was one of the girls who teamed up with Yukie and the others at the lighthouse. She cooked the meal, along with Haruka, which made the others suspicious of her when Yuka was poisoned. When the girls all became paranoid and panicked, Satomi grabbed the uzi and demanded to know who was responsible. Chisato was worried Satomi will convince the others that she killed Yuka. So Chisato grabbed her gun and pointed it at Satomi to make her stop and listen. Satomi suddenly panics and shoots Chisato in the stomach and she falls to the floor dead. When Shuya Nanahara gathers the bodies of the lighthouse girls and arranges them so they're holding hands, he says that, though he never got to know Chisato, he had been told she made everyone feel important.
Etymology[]
- The name Chisato means "knowledge" (知) (chi) and "village" (里) (sato).
- Chisato's surname Matsui means "pine tree, fir tree" (松) (matsu) and "well, mine shaft, pit" (井) (i).
