Hiroshi Kuronaga (黒長 博, Kuronaga Hiroshi) is a minor character in Battle Royale.
Backstory[]
Not about is known about Hiroshi's background except that he was a member of Mitsuru Numai's gang.
Friends and Enemies[]
Hiroshi was friends with Mitsuru Numai, Ryuhei Sasagawa, Izumi Kanai and Sho Tsukioka.
Before the Program[]
Before Kitano resigned, Class B decided to take a day off and skip school, Hiroshi included; he attended the basketball game against Class A, and celebrated when Class B won. Hiroshi decided to go on the class trip; while on the bus, he messed around with his friends. Hiroshi fell asleep after breathing in a sleeping gas pumped into the bus; he was then transported to an island and fitted with an explosive collar.
Hiroshi, along with the rest of the class, woke up in a classroom in the island’s school. Unnerved by the presence of Shogo Kawada and Kazuo Kiriyama, Hiroshi rushed over to the window to watch a helicopter land in front of the school. Hiroshi was shocked to see that Kitano had returned. When Kitano asked the class if they knew the BR Act law, Hiroshi kept quiet, obviously knowing the law, but afraid to say it aloud. Hiroshi was horrified upon seeing Masao Hayashida's corpse. When Fumiyo Fujiyoshi was killed, Hiroshi panicked and ran for the door trying to escape before running towards the back of the classroom when the soldiers began firing. When Yoshitoki Kuninobu's collar got activated, Hiroshi ran around the room trying to evade him.
When Hiroshi's name was called, he grabbed his school bag and ran towards the front of the room; he caught his supply bag and ran out of the school.
During the Game[]
Hiroshi (at the foreground near Mitsuru and Izumi) dead after being shot by Kazuo.
Hiroshi, along with Mitsuru, Sho, Ryuhei, and Izumi, confronted Kazuo and accused him of being a spy for Kitano. Kazuo distracted Ryuhei by spitting his gum at him, took his Uzi and shot all of them.
Etymology[]
- The name Hiroshi means "command, esteem" (博)
- Hiroshi's surname Kuronaga means "black" (黒) (kuro) and "leader, superior" (長) (naga)
