Not to be confused with Kazumi Fukuda, a character from Battle Royale II: Requiem.


Kazumi Shinitani (新谷 和美, Shinitani Kazumi) was a mentioned character in the Battle Royale novel.

Background[]

Kazumi was a part of the music club of Shiroiwa Junior High School as a saxophone player. Shuya Nanahara developed a crush on Kazumi, and showed her a few chords on his electric guitar to impress her. He asked her out but she declined, as she already had a boyfriend whom she graduated with, though Shuya still remained hung up on her.

Appearance[]

Kazumi was full-figured, similar to Yuka Nakagawa. Shuya Nanahara described her as "a little plump." Yoshitoki Kuninobu described her as "fat."

Etymology[]

  • The name Kazumi means "harmony, peace" (和) (kazu) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
  • Kazumi's surname Shinitani means "new" (新) (shin) and "valley" (谷) (tani).
