For the manga, please go to Mizuho Inada (Manga). For the film, please go to Mizuho Inada (Film).

Backstory[]

Mizuho Inada (稲田 瑞穂, Inada Mizuho) a girl with an eccentric imagination, spent a great deal of her time living in a fantasy world. She pretended to be an anime space warrior named Prexia Dikianne Mizuho, appointed by the God of Light, Ahura Mazda.

Appearance[]

It was said that Mizuho has neatly cropped hair and that she wears a spindle-shaped glass pendant she bought through mail-order around her neck. She pretends the pendant is a crystal through which she communicates with Ahura Mazda.

Friends and Enemies[]

Mizuho is best friends with Kaori Minami and Megumi Eto, although they found her eccentric imagination weird. Mizuho often had Kaori join in with her game, calling her Lorela Lausasse Kaori. Mizuho is thought of as quite weird by most of her other classmates such as Shinji Mimura.

In the Program[]

When Yumiko Kusaka and Yukiko Kitano call for peace, Mizuho witnesses Kazuo Kiriyama murder the two girls. Though she intended to follow after him, she lost track. It is unknown what Mizuho was doing throughout the program after losing track of Kazuo. Late in the program, she witnesses the murder of Kayoko Kotohiki by Mitsuko Souma and then Kazuo's murder of Mitsuko. Mizuho manages to survive until very late into the program, lasting until only four other students (Kazuo, Shogo Kawada, Shuya Nanahara, and Noriko Nakagawa) remain. However, by this point, she has lost her mind, believes that her fantasy world is reality, and that Kaori and her other friends had been killed by demons.

As Kazuo arranges branches to make a fire, Mizuho spies on him and, in her delusional state, communicates with Ahura Mazda. The god of light asks her if she's ready for her mission to take down the 'demon' she now believes Kazuo to be. Mizuho responds that she is, and then remembers that Kaori is dead. She asked Ahura Mazda as to why, as her fellow 'chosen one' should have been victorious, but her god's response is that Kaori was a mere commoner in origins whereas Mizuho is special and that she must therefore fight for her sake.

Mizuho races toward Kazuo, believing that her double-bladed knife is in fact a legendary blade of light. Kazuo, however, doesn't even bother to turn around as he draws a gun and shoots Mizuho down. She takes one shot to the shoulder and another directly to the head, which kills her.

Etymology[]

  • The name Mizuho means "felicitous omen, auspicious" (瑞) (mizu) and "grain" (穂) (ho).
  • Mizuho's surname Inada means "rice plant" (稲) (ina) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).

Trivia[]

  • Mizuho's personality seems to follow the chuunibyou (eighth-grade syndrome) troupe, as she constantly "role-plays" and believes herself to be a magical warrior of justice.
  • Mizuho was the last character to be introduced, appearing in chapter 70, up until this point, she was only mentioned very briefly.
  • The novel is the only version where Mizuho is the last female student to die; in both the manga and film versions, it's Mitsuko Souma.
