Satomi Noda (野田 聡美, Noda Satomi) is a minor character in Battle Royale.

Backstory[]

She was a student who took pride in her schoolwork and helping others a lot, but she never was interested in anything else like watching baseball. However, this may have been that sport in particular, since she was seen cheering on the basketball team in a flashback. In the English manga, she was part of the drama club. She is friends with Yukie Utsumi's group, but according to Shuya Nanahara, she was a bit of a loner too. However, she was a kind girl, who always helped those in need of a friend.

In The Program[]

Satomi was one of the girls who joined Yukie Utsumi and her group at the lighthouse. Yuko Sakaki tries to poison Shuya Nanahara, but accidentally kills Yuka Nakagawa. The girls suspect each other, thinking that one of themselves is the murderer. After a moment's reflection on the fact that she has no choice but to kill her friends to survive, and Yuka's death proves this, Satomi grabs her Uzi and points it at her friends. She is also the first one to directly admit that one girl must be a murderer. Haruka Tanizawa gets suspicious and blames her for poisoning Yuka as she believes Satomi is just acting like a raving paranoid since Satomi did drama at school and believes Satomi doesn't trust any of them. Chisato Matsui who is scared that Satomi will convince the others that she poisoned Yuka, grabs her gun but Satomi then shoots her in seconds, Yukie then panics and points it at Satomi but she stops her and shoots her dead. Yukie tried to stop Satomi but failed, and lastly Haruka dives for Yukie's gun but she is shot through the side in a frenzied panic. Satomi then turns to Yuko, telling her that she is safe, and that she can be protected with the Uzi. This may have simply been a plan to use Yuko as a shield, since Satomi lets slip that she will 'get them all', referring to killing her classmates. However, Yuko cannot reply, as unbeknownst to Satomi, Haruka is still alive, and she shoots Satomi in the head, before dying herself.

When Shuya gathers the bodies of the lighthouse girls and arranges them so they're holding hands, he remarks that Satomi kept to herself unless one of her friends needed help.

Etymology[]
