Tatsumichi Oki (大木 立道, Ōki Tatsumichi) is a minor character in Battle Royale.

Background[]

There is no given information on Tatsumichi's background.

Friends and Enemies[]

It was unknown whom Tatsumichi was friends or enemies with. In the program, he appears to be alone.

Before the Program[]

Before Kitano resigned, Class B decided to take a day off and skip school, Tatsumichi included; he attended the basketball game against Class A and celebrated when Class B won. Tatsumichi decided to go on the class trip; while on the bus, Tatsumichi most likely either read or napped. Tatsumichi fell asleep when he breathed in a sleeping gas that was pumped into the bus; he was then transported to an island and fitted with an explosive collar.

Tatsumichi, along with the rest of the class, woke up in a classroom in the island's school. Unnerved by the presence of Shogo Kawada and Kazuo Kiriyama, Tatsumichi rushed to the windows to see a helicopter land in front of the school. Tatsumichi was shocked to see that Kitano had returned. When Kitano asked the class if they knew the BR Act law, Tatsumichi kept quiet, obviously knowing the law but afraid to say it aloud. Tatsumichi was horrified to see the corpse of Masao Hayashida. When Fumiyo Fujiyoshi was killed, Tatsumichi panicked and ran towards the door trying to escape before running towards the back of the classroom when the soldiers began firing. When Yoshitoki Kuninobu's collar was activated, Tatsumichi ran around the room trying to evade him.

When Tatsumichi's named was called, he grabbed his school bag and jacket before running towards the front of the room; he attempted to catch his supply bag, but dropped it and stumbled backwards to retrieve it before running out of the school.

During the Program[]

Tatsumichi is encountered by Shuya Nanahara and Noriko Nakagawa shortly after the first announcement. He stands on a path on the north mountain a few feet away from where Shuya and Noriko are walking. As they walk by, he jumps out of the bush, swinging his hatchet wildly at the two. Shuya and Tatsumichi fight while Noriko watches from a distance, and in the struggle they fall to the ground and roll down a steep hill. Shuya sits up when they reach a halt, to discover that the hatchet has become embedded in the top of the skull. In shock, Shuya asks Tatsumichi if he is okay and Tatsumichi replies by apologizing and insisting he is fine before collapsing on the ground and dying.

Yuko Sakaki witnesses Tatsumichi's death, and runs away shortly after. She became convinced that Shuya killed Tatsumichi, which drove her to causing the lighthouse massacre.

Etymology[]
