Yuka Nakagawa (中川 有香, Nakagawa Yūka) is a minor character in Battle Royale.

Backstory[]

Nothing was known about Yuka's background. She was shown to be energetic and cheerful.

Friends and Enemies[]

Yuka was friends with Yukie Utsumi, Yuko Sakaki, Haruka Tanizawa, Chisato Matsui, and Satomi Noda. It is unknown if she had any enemies. Her care for Izumi Kanai is visible as when soldiers were rolling in carts filled with supply bags, Yuka immediately pulled Izumi from their path and held onto her tight.

In the Program[]

YukaDead

Yuka, dead, after eating the poisoned food mean for Shuya.

Yuka is one of the girls who teams up with Yukie and the others at the lighthouse. Upon hearing that Shuya Nanahara has awoken, she playfully teases Yukie about her crush Shuya. Yuko is afraid of Shuya, who's lying injured upstairs, because she believes he killed Tatsumichi Oki, so she puts poison in Shuya's food. Yuka unknowingly eats the poisoned food. Her death, moments later, causes the paranoid panic that leads to the death of all the girls in the lighthouse.

Etymology[]

  • The name Yuka means "exist" (有) (yu) and "fragrance, fragrant" (香) (ka).
  • Yuka's surname Nakagawa means "middle" (中) (naka) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa/gawa).

Notes[]

  • Yuka is the only person in the program to be poisoned.
  • Yuka's death isn't accurate with the poison she ingested; Potassium Cyanide symptoms are headaches, confusion, dizziness, anxiety, heart arrhythmias (heart pounding), and unconsciousness; while it is possible to die from Potassium Cyanide, you won't spit up blood like Yuka did.
  • Although Yuka shares the same family name as Noriko Nakagawa, the two are unrelated since Nakagawa is a common Japanese surname.
