Yuka Nakagawa (中川 有香, Nakagawa Yūka) is a minor character in Battle Royale.

Backstory

Yuka was a slightly chubby girl who was always cheerful. She is known for being something of a class clown and having a dirtier sense of humor among the girls. Although she has the same family name as Noriko Nakagawa, the two are unrelated. She is a part of Yukie Utsumi's group

In the Program

Yuka is one of the girls who teams up with Yukie Utsumi and the others at the lighthouse. Upon hearing that Shuya has awoken, she playfully teases Yukie about her relationship with Shuya. Yuko Sakaki is afraid of Shuya Nanahara, who is lying injured upstairs, because she believes he killed Tatsumichi Oki, so she puts poison in Shuya's food. It was Yuka's job to take the food to Shuya and she reckons she should test it first, stating that she wanted to see whether it gets the 'Yuka Seal of Approval,' but the acid kills her.

When Shuya gathers the bodies of the lighthouse girls and arranges them so they're holding hands, he describes Yuka as not letting anyone be sad and gives her the 'Yuka Seal of Approval'.

Etymology[]

  • The name Yuka means "exist" (有) (yu) and "fragrance, fragrant" (香) (ka).
  • Yuka's surname Nakagawa means "middle" (中) (naka) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa/gawa).
